Recall those electrifying, swinging and ring-a-ding-dinging Las Vegas lounge nights as
Bruce Klauber and The Wildest–with special guest, Chuck Darrow–celebrate the man who
“played pretty for the people,” the legendary Louis Prima.
Singer, drummer and writer Bruce Klauber, who recorded the remake of Prima’s “Just a Gigolo” in 1978-six years before David Lee Roth‘s mega hit version of it-has been associated with
Prima’s music ever since.
Klauber and his swinging group, The Wildest, stars pianist Andy Kahn and bassist Bruce Kaminsky of our region’s popular All-Star Jazz Trio, noted jazz vocalist Mary Ellen Desmond, saxophonist Dave DePalma, and drummer Grant MacAvoy. And befitting a real Vegas lounge show, Chuck Darrow-humorist, broadcaster and entertainment journalist-will be along as opening act. Klauber and wild company plan on a weekend of high energy musical hi jinks in the Louis Prima / Keely Smith / Sam Butera and The Witnesses style, with singular takes on Prima hits like “Gigolo,” “Angelina,” “That Old Black Magic,” Jump Jive and Wail,” and other hits.
