Club owner dances, sings and makes sure the duck leg is the right temperature

On a rainy Saturday, Michael Richard Kelly-Cataldi – entertainment director and co-owner of Glenside’s Dino’s Backstage with his husband, Dino J. Kelly-Cataldi – is doing a little bit of everything: Along with introducing rockabilly guitarist Dibbs Preston, Michael Richard Kelly-Cataldi sings a Patsy Cline tune with the band, cuts a rug with a dancing doyenne to get the swing party started, buses tables, takes drink orders (“Have the pink martini”), checks the temperature of the roasted duck leg, and handles phone reservations for the next morning’s brunch.

Multi-tasker charms audiences at new restaurant/cabaret

Michael Richard Kelly-Cataldi is a talented, charismatic multi-tasker who in 1994 opened the city’s first pet boutique, “…and Toto, too!®” which won a Philadelphia Magazine “Best of Philly®” award. He has also been the property manager of a condo building with 160 residential units and 20 commercial units in Philadelphia, and he has sold diamonds, high-end jewelry and homes.

Dino’s Backstage Brings Glitz and Glamour to Glenside

Striding gracefully across plush zebra-striped carpeting, tuxedo-clad waiters balance serving trays filled with champagne, martini glasses and snifters. On a nearby stage, the suave bandleader snaps his fingers as his trio launches into “Fly Me to the Moon.” This isn’t a flashback to the Copacabana or the Latin Casino—it’s here and now at Dino’s Backstage, the stunningly glamorous restaurant, bar and cabaret located next door to the Keswick Theatre in Glenside.
